Blind Dave 777 Challenge.........................91 Days To Go

“A TYPICAL SUNDAY – JUST THE TWO HALF MARATHONS”

07-01-2008

Blind Dave Heeley has been telling The Stirrer about the latest preparations for his 777 challenge in April – a Sunday spent running two half marathons around the Black Country.

Dave, from West Bromwich and his running guide Malcom “Mad Mac” Carr from Smethwick are now entering the most intensive phase of their training.

As we’ve reported previously that’s involved “going on the wagon” and changing their diets – as a result of which Dave has shed a stone in weight.

Yesterday, the pair spent the day running, relaxing, running again, then going to bed.

“It wasn’t easy, the legs were a bit sore afterwards” Dave said. “And in the morning it was so icy we were slipping and sliding all over the place.”

Their first half marathon took them from Dave’s house near the Oak House to Sandwell Valley, Newton Road and Great Bridge; the evening route was via Burnt Tree island, Newbury Lane, Blackheath, Whiteheath and Oldbury.

They won’t be able to take it any easier today – they’re lined up for a bout of heavy duty marathon circuit training.

Listen out tomorrow for the first of our regular Blind Dave podcasts.

Blind Dave and Mad Mac are running seven marathons in seven days on seven continents to raise money for Guide Dogs for the Blind. Support them by sponsoring them at at http://www.justgiving.com/7mm
