NEW VILLA BADGE UNVEILED

07-05-2007

What do you mean you’ve seen it already? Not this one you haven’t. In Pete Millington’s design, the Villa Lion has got poor old Beau Brummie by the throat.

Yes, the new official branding is all very well, but Pete’s added a few touches to represent the real thoughts, aspirations and feelings of the fans, especially that section which, like him, used to wear half a dozen scarves tucked into their belts and tied to their wrists as they stoodat the back of the Holte End in their rolled up Oxford baggie jeans and Doc Martin boots throughout the mid to late 1970s.

They were the ones chanting highly immature and utterly provocative things about the opposition fans, the refereeand the police, the lyrics of which generally involved people meeting up for an after match conference close to Witton Road railway station and then travelling home with medical assistance.

The ones about the police involved a very witty observation about the shape of their helmets.

Pete says he’s glad he’s matured since then.
