HAPPY BIRTHDAY BLIND DAVE

24-11-2007

West Brom marathon runner and Stirrer blogger Blind Dave Heeley is celebrating his 50th birthday tonight at Bescot Stadium.

The Stirrer caught up with Dave earlier this week at Tipton Sports Academy, where he’s now in regular training for next year’s 7/7/7 challenge – seven marathons in seven days on seven continents.

He now has the Guide Dogs charity on board sorting out his logistics and although an earlier deal for coverage with ITN fell through, there are high hopes that he’ll secure a major TV deal over the next few weeks.

Likewise major sponsorships and a book deal are on the horizon.

We suspect that in around five months time Dave will be a national hero – but in the meantime he’s just got to build up his fitness anf cocus on the task ahead.

As we revealed last week, that means “going on the wagon” between now and next April – a tough ask for a bloke used to downing 30 pints a week.

We’re sure his trainer won’t mind if he lets one pint pass his lips on the occasion of his 50th though.

Happy birthday Dave.
