BLIND DAVE NOTCHES UP RIO

08-04-2008

West Brom’s finest – marathon runner Dave Heeley – has successfully completed the second of his seven marathons, taking 4 hours and 45 minutes for the Rio leg of his worldwide fundraising schlep.

Dave’s time was almost half an hour longer than their first section in the Falklands, but given the stop-start nature of their journey to Brazil – which involved two flights – that’s not a bad time.

Tomorrow’s marathon in LA involves an eight hour flight which might conceivably offer them more sleep and recovery time than they’ve so far enjoyed.

Dave’s wife Debb who’s stayed at home in the Black Country says that he and his guide runner Mad Mac were both “very emotional” at the end of Leg 2 – let’s just hope the lads aren’t cracking up on us.
