BLIND DAVE GETS QUICKER AS HE COMPLETES RUN THREE 09-04-2008 Blind Dave Heeley and his running partner Malcolm “Mad Mac” Carr are getting quicker as they battle through their global marathon expedition. The third leg, completed last night in Los Angeles, knocked ten minutes off the time of the second section in Rio. The boys are now on a 15 hour flight to Sydney, giving welcome time for rest and recuperation – and all the signs are positive that they are progressing well. They completed the LA run in just 4 hours 35 minutes, perhaps buoyed by the tremendous reception they received in the city’s Rose Bowl stadium. After being escorted from the airport in a Mercedes, the pair and their team from Guide Dogs were welcomed by the Braille Institute of America and given a commendation by the Mayor of Pasadena. Now it’s three down – with “just” four to go. To see the film of Dave’s achievements “Personal Best” click here.
