BLIND DAVE EYES TUNIS AFTER KENYA VIOLENCE

29-01-2008

Black Country marathon runner Dave Heeley has admitted that post-election violence in Kenya means that he’ll probably have to eliminate Nairobi from his 7/7/7 challenge – and opt for Tunis instead.

Safety fears after a weekend of continuing conflict almost certainly mean that Dave’s sponsors, Guide Dogs For The Blind, will order the switch.

Tunisia is the next favoured spot, and negotiations have already opened in the capital Tunis.

Dave says, “It will be a real shame because Kenya is one of the long-distance running capitals of the world, and we’d already had promises of support.

“When you see the news, though, you'll appreciate there’s not a lot we can do about it.”
