BLIND DAVE HITS £50,000 TARGET 27-11-2006 Black Country marathon runner Blind Dave Heeley revealed at the weekend that his most successful year of fund-raisinghas generated more than £50,000 for Guide Dogs For The Blind - and there's more to come. Dave and his wife Debb made the announcement on Saturday night at a packedvariety showheld at Walsall FC Supporters Club at Bescot Stadium. The final figure is expected to rise by several thousand pounds when a guitar played by Robin Gibb during the Bee Gees mid-70's heyday is auctioned next year. It was donated by pop impresario David English who brought an all-star cricket team to Himley in the Black Country for a charity match earlier this year. Dave summed up his achievements, which included running the London and New York marathons as “fantabulous” and has promised to keep on running well into the future. Later this year, you'll be able to watch the first documentary about Blind Dave here on The Stirrer which we'll be running as our Christmas film - let's face it, it beats watching “It's A Wonderful Life” again. |
