BLIND DAVE ON THE WAGON

16-11-2007

Black Country runner Blind Dave Heeley has given up booze as his epic 7/7/7 marathon challenge looms closer. Dave, from West Bromwich, normally downs around 30 pints a week, but has now been (mostly) alcohol-free for six weeks.

It's all part of his build-up to next year's gruelling challenge and he admits that he's surprised at how easy he's found it.

"I can't even say I've missed it," he said. "We're doing so much training now, that even when I was offered a pint the other night as a reward for working so hard, I didn't really fancy it.

"It's really gruelling, and me and my guide runner Mac are knackered, but when we're running we're feeling great."

Dave has also changed his diet, feasting on fish and chicken, and snacking on nuts and fruit."
