BLIND DAVE REJECTS TV STARDOM

16-01-2008

Black Country marathon runner Blind Dave Heeley has rejected the chance of TV stardom.  He’s turned down an approach from the producers of Channel 4’s reality show “Wife Swap”.

Dave says the programme makers were interested in exploring how disability affects relationships, but even with the carrot of a £1,000 fee he simply wasn’t interested in taking part.

“It did sound appealing because I’d get to sleep with another woman for a week” he joked.

“There again, with my luck I’d probably end up with someone like Norah Batty.

“But in all seriousness I wouldn’t want to swap my wife Debb even for a few days.”

Dave said that he would be interested in taking part in a Ray Mears-style survival programme – TV producers take note.

Aside from TV offers, Dave and his guide runner Mad Mac – Malcolm Wickes – are back in full-time training again, and building towards this year’s amazing expedition; seven marathons in seven days on seven continents.
