Blind Dave’s 777 Countdown.....................87 Days To Go BLIND DAVE INJURY SCARE 11-01-2008 West Brom marathon runner Blind Dave Heeley was forced to cancel training for his 777 challenge yesterday after pulling a muscle in his back – but has assured his followers that he’ll be back on the road today. Dave was returning from a training run with guide runner “Mad Mac” Malcolm Wickes, and says, “I was just doing a few stretches to help me warm down. I went over and felt a muscle go. It’s sore but shouldn’t take more than 24 hours to recover.” Mad Mac has also been in the war - he’s been banned from taking part in the water training programme recommended by the Northern Ireland Institute of Sport in Belfast. This heavy-duty exercise saw Dave and Mac sloshing around a pool 90 times – but has now been put on hold after Mac found it was aggravating a back condition. If nothing else, these signs of wear and tear are testament to the full-on training programme they’ve both embarked on ahead of their attempt to run seven marathons in seven days on seven continents in April.
