BLIND DAVE TAKES MERC AROUND THE WORLD - AS TV BECKONS 05-03-2008 Mercedes and Cosctutter were introduced as sponsors of Blind Dave Heeley’s marathon challenge yesterday at the London launch of his round the world expedition. The Black Country runner had a breathless spree of media appearances to mark his arrival in the Smoke. Over the last 24 hours, he’s appeared on Five Live, BBC News 24, Channel 4, and the World Service. Dave – who plans to become the first athlete to run seven marathons in seven days on seven continents – also revealed that Central ITV have revived plans to film his global trip. We caught up with him back home in West Brom this morning as he got back to the business of preparing for his mammoth adventure – today, that involves running two 13 milers along with his guide runner Mad Mac. “It was a great press launch,” he said. “To be honest, I didn’t know that Mercedes and Costcutter were on board, but I’m glad they are. “And although we had the disappointment a few months ago when we thought ITN we’re going to follow us around the world, but then backed out, it now looks as though Central will be joining us. “Their reporter Eric McInnes has been so supportive, and talks are going on at the moment between ITV and Guide Dogs.” |
