THE BLAIR LEGACY?

16-05-2007

He's still the Prime Minister but Tony Blair has finally decided on his "vote by" date, and now it's only a matter of time before Gordon moves from Number 11 to Number 10. Barbara Panvel sums up a decade in power.

The Blair Legacy?

Will it be the much vaunted and much doubted claim to improvement in the NHS and education?

Will it be the series of computer failures, the firms concerned being disciplined by being given new contracts?

Will it be the raid on pension funds?

Or will it be the more creditable minimum wage legislation, the well-intentioned Family Credit and New Deal projects?

In the eyes of many, Tony Blair's legacy will be the ongoing illegal war which has wasted hundreds of thousands of lives - most of them civilian.

The enduring image? Blood-stained hands.
