Here’s something worth celebrating …a new live literature venue in the Black Country town of Bilston. Café Metro launches its poetry and storytelling evening on Thursday July 23.

On the opening night, the MC will be local performance poet Emma Purshouse – and she’ll be joined by Jackie Evans, Bob Hale, Hazel Malcolm, Eileen Ward-Birch and Stirrer poet laureate Brendan Hawthorne.

Simon Fletcher, Literature Development Officer for Wolverhampton Libraries, said: “We’re really delighted that the Café Metro is to be the home of another live literature venture in the city.

“We have three writers’ groups in Bilston already so it seems a good opportunity for local writers to share their work in public. We’re having another session in September and hope it can become a regular monthly event,” he added.

Tickets are £2 available on the door or from simon.fletcher@wolverhampton.gov.uk

A full range of reading and writing groups and live literature events at libraries and around the city can be viewed on the wolverhampton.gov.uk/libraries website.
