Stirrer TV PUBLIC BOSS HAILS “BIG NEW MOMENT” FOR BLACK COUNTRY 30-06-2008 The Director the Public Art Gallery in West Bromwich has described the building’s opening as “a big new moment” for the Black Country. Dave Clarke told Stirrer TV, “It’s important for the Black Country that people have somewhere they can call their own but also for putting the Black Country on the map.” He said the venue could build on the recent successes of newly promoted West Bromwich Albion and local marathon runner Dave Heeley: “It’s part of a new pride - a new sense of West Brom and the Black Country’s place in the world.” Clarke also emphasised that there was an onus on local people to help develop The Public and make it successful – but drew inspiration from the fact that so many people from different ages and communities has turned out in their thousands for the launch weekend.
